Default Trunk subwoofer in convertible

May have asked this awhile ago, but I still don't know what to do. I have a 2012 convertible and installed an aftermarket subwoofer in trunk. Anyone who has a convertible, thinking at least years 2011-2014, knows there is a metal partition in the trunk that separates it from the area where the top retracts into. This does a pretty goog job of dampening the sound from the trunk and now the sub. Does anyone know how to "port" some sound into the interior? Don't know if cutting holes in the metal panel will work, looks like there is an insulated lining in area behind the rear seats. Plus I really dont want to compromise any rigidity by cutting into that panel unless someone knows specifically where to cut, or better yet how to make a port into the interior, (near the outside edge of the rear seats, maybe)? Any suggestions?

I can't help much, if at all, but my suggestion would be to pull all the carpet out of the trunk and see what holes are there already. You might be able to find one that is suitable with proper sub/port positioning.
