Crossing over?
I heard that if you take the positive on the amp and hook it to the negative on a sub, and the positive on a sub to the negative on the amp(he called it crossing over?) it will hit harder. I know this doesnt do much for normal speakers, and that the sound is close to the same but the proper way is a bit better, but I dont know about subs. Your input?
Also, just a quick question. If you have your volume moderatly loud, like 2/3's up or around that and your sub starts missing beats, especially the deeper ones, does that mean its not getting enough power or that its up too high?

You'll just reverse the phase on it. If you have 2 subs and reverse the pahes on only one of them it'll almost sound like theres no woofer playing at all because they cancel each other out. I don't think doing that would make your driver any louder. You'll simply be routing the signal the other way through the woofer structure.
I think you might be talking about series wiring if I had to guess. But it wouldn't hit harder. You'd just be adding the ohm's of each speaker and increasing the resistance that the amp sees.
I was fiddlin around and I did notice the thing where they cancel each other out. I didnt see a difference so I just put it back to the proper way. No they arent series, i guess its parallel(?)..the positives and negatives are spliced to gether and bridged at the amp.
seight is right its called wiring out of phase. one instance where it is necessary is when you use two subs and one of them is mounted with the basket outside the box and the other is mounted regular fashion. you must then reverse the phase on one of the subs in order for them to both to play the same signal. some people just invert one sub to show off the motor/magnet structure of the sub.
