Default Shaker 1000 Door sub replacement -2005

Folks, I have a blown passenger subwoofer on a 2005 mustang with shaker 1000. I was told that I could just replace it with an 8" sub and would not have to take the door off to replace. I've taken the trim ring off and the speakers bolts but it isn't coming out. Was I lied to and the door has to be removed for this replacement? Also, I understand I can't just use any 8" subwoofer. I was told the CompC kicker 8" subwoofer would be a direct replace, but would prefer to find out for sure first, or if I should just try and find the same Ford replacement as this shaker has a unique setup and requires a special ohm range, etc....

Any help from someone who knows this system would be appreciated.....thanks!

No problem, by the way, one thing that is kind of not clear. When first removing the stock sub, you MUST remove the door panel to get the stock subwoofer out. The subwoofer has a bolt that goes through the rear of the speaker magnet to the enclosure it sits in to prevent rattling. Once you have that bolt out, if you decide to plug the hold and not use it, you will be able to install/remove the sub without taking the door panel off.
