Default Sub box deminsions?

Ok, on a site's product description page, sometimes it will give you the deminsion sizes for a sub's enclosure. Is this the prefab size or the best sounding size?

It's the recommended size for optimum performance, as described by the manufacturer. Generally pre-fab boxes suck they are for the consumer that is either A) An idiot or B) doesn't have the time, money or resources to build the proper box. That is unless you go to a company like Sub-Zero who makes pre-fab boxes around many woofer manufacturers specs. Some people will still question those even. I know they made one for Adires Brahma Mark II. So even if you have a smaller name sub they may still have one for yours.

Yeah I mean the company that manufactured the sub should know it better than anyone else right? Those are the specs I would go by. Of course you could have it calculated by a computer software program, Im pretty sure it'll (should) be very close to what the spec sheet says. Programs like.... I think theres one called speaker works, you know what Im not sure right off hand. You can search "Enclosure Builder Program" in a search engine and find some. Im sure Sinister or pj know of a couple of the programs used to do that that you should be able to download for very cheap if not some may even be free. Or if they have them im sure if you ask them nicely they'll plug in the specs and let you know, I don't know if they use them at all, but it's worth a shot.

i sell subzone and their quality isnt as good as a custom made thats for sure. i could spec out a couple boxes for you i have a few programs that can give alot better than the manufacture. the one thing about manufacture recomended boxes is that they go towards what they want like kicker its spl sony just so they can get every last db out no matter how bad it sounds and DLS JL Arc for sound quality.
