Aussie Mustang visitors
My family and I will be visiting the US and will be in LA from the 10th of September to the 19th. My 12 year old son and I are car enthusiasts (have a 1966 emberglo Mustang coupe 4 year rebuild almost complete plus a few other American classics). We will be staying Fountain Valley and wondered if we could meet up with any fellow car buffs in the area. We want to go to Big Bobs at Burbank and just do a few car related things while the girls shop. Are there any old school wrecking yards around? car shows? musuems? So any leads on things to do would be great. If anyone has any ideas you can send me a message here or via barclik@yahoo.com
Thanks

Depending on when you leave on the 19th, there's the Mustangs at the Queen Mary that day. A really great Mustang car show at the Long Beach harbor.

There's also a couple of car shows on Sat, the 11th.
The first is the Tony Sousa Memorial Car Show, down at the Santa Monica Pier. I've never been there, but I might go this year. Should be a great location, and it's sponsored by the LA Shelby American Auto Club. And they'll have a guest speaker who worked for Shelby back in the 60's.

Over in Irvine, not far from Fountain Valley, they have a large impromptu car gathering very early on Saturday mornings called Cars & Coffee. You never know what to expect, so no guarantees on any given day, but there are always lots of great cars there. I've seen 100 year old cars and on the same day million dollar cars like the Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Reveton. Classic American mucle cars, vintage cars, classic British roadsters, Lambos, Ferraris... just a whole assortment any given Saturday. The cars start gathering there at 6 AM, so you probably want to get there around 7 AM. They start emptying out around 8:30 AM. The nice thing is you can go, and still have your whole day left.
