Default getting ready to paint my '66 coupe

The original factory color was Wimbleton White.

My car was just primed after being 100% media blasted. So i have a clean slate to work with.

I need some suggestions on a great paint product.

What is the best paint to used today, acrylic enamel, base coat /clear coat? Which company paint is recommended, Dupont????

I want to stay with the factory color.

Also what are your thoughts on painting the engine compartment, should i black it out or paint it the color of the car?

Appreciate your opinions. Thanks

Wimbeldon white is an excellent color. I went PPG, base coat, clear coat that was cut and buffed. Really looks awesome! I would go with a black semi gloss on the eng compartment....it won't take long for it it to look real dirty if it is painted white.

My paint guy recommends Sikkens paint.

I would paint the engine bay black like its supposed to be. It looks much better. Also, like was already said the white would show all the dirt in a short amount of time

My car was painted with DuPont if I remember right about 15 years ago. Its base/clear. It still looks great.

Engine bay paint: (and you'll think I'm a cheapo for this) Rustoleum semi gloss OR satin black. I've sprayed Centari and Dupont semi gloss varieties in engine compartments and interiors...for some reason Rustoleum really holds up allot better and the color matches the upholstery better.
