I think the biggest reason is that the 69/70 mustang body’s are highly desirable in there own right. With BOSS 302’s, BOSS 429’s and MACH 1’s being the hot ticket, there isn’t any more performance in a Shelby. Whereas the 65-68 Shelby’s had marked performance improvements over their mustang counterparts, the 69/70’s didn’t.
Granted, I love the looks of the 69/70 Shelby’s, especially the hood, but I would rather have a BOSS 302 clone instead.

Plus the front of the 69/70s is completely different. You would need two fenders, a hood and grill etc... It makes cloning expensive.

But when you do you have something different !
Also the way shelby clones are it should have a better value.
The reason I am cloneing mine is I like the looks
Everybody is doing the Boss clone and Boss clone convertibles are tacky
After I,m dead and gone mabee my Wife and Kids will get a little more
$$$$$ out of my hobby/habbit lol!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt necessarily say that model Shelby clone would have a higher value than say a Boss clone. As 65_2plus2 said, the Boss'es are a hotter ticket than a 69 70 Shelby right now.

Ah, you guys are pipe dreaming aren't you? To actuallly own one of those cars would be a lifetime investment for most of us. I'm just happy with my 65 coupe, and I drive it every day with a smile on my face. I don't know how many compliments I have received in the past week or so.

Soaring hit the nail on the head. Sense most of us cannot afford a real Shelby, a clone is the closest we can hope for. And jrrhd73must is also right, as it costs more to convert to a 69/70 than the other model years. My personal favorite is a 68 GT-500, and if I can get my hands on a reasonable fastback or convertible I will make one for myself.

If a 69 Shelby is your favorite, more power to you. And you are correct in that you do not see many of those beautiful cars anywhere.
