Default 10 second 1/8th mile?

My 72 coupe is stock with 24,000 original miles and the stock 302 with a C4 automatic. The only performance mod is the dual 40 flows. I run a mid 10 second run on the 1/8th and I was wondering if this is good for my car?

thats pretty good for stock 302 in a big heavy mustang, my dad's powerstroke runs mid 10s and its hopped up alot (400 to 500 hp estimated)

He's talking about the 1/8th mile, not the 1/4.

Well damn, my stock 66 289 can run 60+ mph, in 10 seconds, but it's alittle lighter.

10.5 1/8 is around a 15.5 1/4. 9's in the 1/8 are closer to 14s in the 1/4. That isnt too bad for a stock 302.

15.5 in the 1/4!!!!!!---- hell my dually runs 15.0x in the 1/4 at just under 92 and it wieghs 8k lbs.

Here....I raced a mustang that ran 10s in the 1/8...he's in the left lane

ohhh yeah ...he lifted.

Post up a scan of your time slip so we can offer some advice if you are looking to drop into the 9s in the 1/8. Might me HP related, might be traction related, might be shifting related. As for good or not.....did you have fun? That's how you tell if its a good running car or not . Anytime you drive it there, race it a few times and drive it home...its good times IMHO.

Yeah, I was running 63-64 mph when I crossed the line. I would take a pic of my slips and send them in but I don't have a digital cam at my house. I will get the slips and tomorrow I will copy them on to a post so that you all can look at them. I had a lot of fun, and I did eat an Acura's lunch so I guess im happy. I really want some more HP though!!! I didn't really spin any off the line but I really shouldn't (I'm running 255/70R15s in the Back). I noticed that if I shift it manually I can get faster, if it shifts it seems to do it too early. Basically, it is just a stock car and the only way to get faster is to add a stronger engine. But im glad to know that it isn't really slow.
