Default trany

i have a 66 mustang 289 with a 3 speed in it. im rebuilding the engine and i want to really feel that difference in power so ive decided to also change the trany. my top choice is a C4 manual 4 speed. does anyone know if that will fit or work in my car? i heard it will just bolt in wothout me having to change my crosmember belhousing or starter.

A C4 is an automatic transmission.

yes, C4 is a auto, and its a 3-speed. i think you're thinking of the 4-speed toploader. i think you need a new bellhousing for the 4-speed but im not exactly sure. if your upgrading try a T-5, although you'll need a new crossmember and few other parts, its a real gas-saver with that 5th gear at .63/.68

if you're swapping out for another manual, go for the T5

oh yeah, and "tranny" is spelled with 2 N's

.........and why did you start 3 threads for your question?
