Will not turn over?
Yeah ok. He has a rebuilt engine and he is going to fix it with Marvel mystery oil! NOT! You have the right idea. start tearing it down, it might turn once you get the trans and torque converter off. If not keep going and pull the engine. I know it is too late now but I always turn rebuilt motors by hand when they are still on the stand just to be sure they turn before installation. Let us know how you are doing with it.
That's too bad, I was hoping for you're sake it was the starter... Well, I hope it the converter that's causing it..

Well, pulled the starter this morning, and still cannot turn it over. So... Going to pull the engine tonight and see if the torque converter or the flywheel bolts are binding somewhere.

It could also be caused from improper installation of the torque converter into the trans, and then mating the motor to the bell housing. If the TC is not completely inserted correctly, it can cause the engine to bind. If the TC is insatalled right, with TC nuts backed off, there should be some for/aft play.
Totally correct and I'll bet this is the case!!

Good news! I pulled the engine out, and it cranks over without issue. I checked the bell housing, no appearent touching there, plenty of clearence on the flywheel as well.
So, if I am not mistaken, this leaves me with 2 possibilities.
1. The torque converter was not lined up correctly
2. The tranny is bad. (I can't believe this is it though).
I will keep everyone posted.

I kind of thought that's what you would find. I'll bet you did not have the converter seated..

I believe what you do is, is install the torque convertor in the transmission first. Then you could spin it and tell if it's right. Then bolt the engine up to it. at least, thats how it worked on my impala.
