Default Will not turn over?

Ok, I am at a loss here.

I was ready to turn over my new 302 (it's in a 68 mustang coupe), and when I attempted to, the solenoid clicked, the started engaged, but the engine would not turn over.

The engine is new, the trans is a new rebuilt c4 (jackson racing), new starter, new battery, new solenoid, I am at a loss.

Any suggestions on what I should look for??

Thank you,
Ted

First check all the connections. Make sure they're all tight and clean. If you say that you starter is engaging but won't turn the motor over, make sure you can turn the motor over by hand. I would say bad connection somewhere though

sounds like a locked up engine to me. or possibly a dead or weak battery or loose connection. Hopefully, it's not the first thing.

I assume he is talking about a brand new engine.

Just because the starter is new, does not mean its not bad. Don't think the worst, check all the connections and if everything is good make sure you have 12 volts going to the starter. Then pull the starter out and bench check it to make sure its working right. You can also turn the engine over by hand to make sure its not locked up.

Well, it looks like it is engine related. I have tried to turn it over by hand, no luck.

Any ideas on what to check on the engine as to why it may be locked up?

The engine is a "new" engine from recon.

well it would be tough to turn a new or rebuilt engine by hand. maybe try loosning sparkplugs to relieve compression and turn it. Idk.
