Default snap, crackle, pop

Started up the Mustang today just to see how it runs since I can't drive it until I get my PS Pump back from being restored and my brakes bled. Anyway, it fires right up, no hesitation, and no smoke or condensation from the exhaust. Seems to be running very strong. Problem is, when I open up the throttle a little under the hood, I hear a "crack crack" noise only when I rev it up. It sounds like spark/arc or something electrical (which I know very little). The cap, plugs, wires, are practically new. I am using a yellow top repro coil and I dropped it on the floor a while back. My first guess is it might be the coil.

Any suggestions?

Start it up at night, then see where the fireworks are coming from. The 4th of July is just around the corner.
