I was driving tonight and i noticed that my c4 was shifting a little late. then when i got home it wouldnt let me move the shifter wouldn't move all the way into park. I pulled the shifter all the way back to 1, then tried to put it in park, but now it wouldnt move past D. I looked at all the linkages underneath to see if it was catching on something, but it all looked ok, I think it must be internal, any ideas? All of your help is greatly appreciated.

 

Remove the linkage down below from the shift fork (on the side of the transmission), and check to see if you have any movement in the shift fork itself. Backwards and forwards. It could be internal on the shifter mechanism on top, or in the internals in the trans. I would check the linkages and the mechanisms inside the shifter itself once you remove the linkages below as well.
