need help decoding numbers please
hi all
I'm brand new here and as much as I like and appreciate the older classic Mustangs I'm a Corvette guy myself. Be nice though
There is a particular '69 Mach1 that I have my eye on as a project I'd love to get and add to the collection though.........
anyway, I would GREATLY appreciate some help from you Mustang experts. I need to help my sister-in-law sell her '67 Mustang convertible.
I just brought the car here to my house from her warehouse and have grabbed some numbers off of it and was hoping you Mustang expert could help me decode them so I know just what I'm dealing with so we can determine a true and fair value on the car.
so far these are the numbers I've found:
Tag: drivers side door by latch
7T03C253164
76B W 6K 24E 16 0 W
Tag: Fender lip/inner fender area - drivers side
D 154
28 E27 7103C253164
76B W 6K
ET -R MC TOP-3
Stamped: Top of inner fender - drivers side
07103C2532164
I assume the VIN # of the car is the 7103C253164 numbers but what about the rest of the numbers.
**The car has a 289 in it. Where on the motor do I look to get the numbers off of it for date codes, etc.
**Besides the locations of the numbers I just posted and wherever I can find numbers on the motor, is there anyplace else I need to look for numbers to pull off that are important?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
It was just starting to rain when I got the car here yesterday afternoon so i'll try to get a bunch of pics today to put up on my website and than I'll post a link to them so maybe you guys can also help determine what a accurate value on the car is we should ask for it. I know what she has in her mind she would like to get for the car but before trying to sell it I'd like some realistic feedback on what you guys think it's worth. I don't want to put an unreastically high price on it but don't want to undervalue the car either.
Once I get your help on the numbers all decoded and I get pictures posted up I'll start another thread to ask for your opinions on the value
Thanks to all in advance.

mustangsplus also has a decoder in the back of their catalogue. i don't remember the specifics for my 66 but it was the Metuchen plant and everything but the trans matched (as long as you look under the white, grey primer, cherry apple red, and yellow primer coats! LOL!)
Soaring
Thanks!
that was a big help.
any info on the tag from under the hood and what those numbers mean?
Also, I found the numbers off the intake, heads, and alternator but couldn't find the numbers on the block itself - where do I look for them
the pics of the car and the tags and numbers I've found so far are on my website HERE

Barry, here are 4 pages of data that I will let you decide on the exact numbers that apply to your car. http://raceabilene.com/kelly/hotrod/engine.html
