Thanks Slick! I do love that its a 289. Although with the 302 crank and rods, I guess technically it could be considered a 302. Maybe not. Looks like my engine may have an identity crisis

Well, its technically a 302 with that crank in there. The problem is the cylinder walls on a 289 block are shorter than a 302 block. That's why Scott told you to limit the RPM's.. It puts allot of stress on the lower section of the cylinder wall at high RPMs.. Just don't beat on it and it should be fine.

Typically you can use a 289 crank in a 302 block but normally not the other way around. You sure that's a 289 block?
