Default My 66 is overheating

A couple of days ago, my 66 mustang started to get a lil hot and the coolant started to boil. I was close to home so I just parked it and let it cool off for a day. The next day, I look and have basically no coolant, so I fill it up and drive it today. As I'm driving home, I notice that it's starting to get hot again. By the time I'm home, the coolant is boiling once again and coolant comes out of the radiator. The coolant was not leaking the night before and while I had it parked during the day. When I drove it during the morning, it worked fine, but during the hot day it wasn't. Plus, the car was cooling fine last summer with the a/c on and everything running. The only thing I've changed since then is to rebuild the transmission. What do you think the problem could be?

It could be a sticking therostat or a clogged radiator or bad hoses.

You haven't stated what radiator or fan you have or if you have a shroud or overflow system. Since you were running cool last summer, you more than likely have a stoppped up radiator or something else that is stopped up such as the thermostat to prevent adequate water flow.

I think it is probably just a clogged up radiator because it was sitting for a while because of transmission problems. Thanks for all the help guys.

Turns out it was a stuck thermostat. It was quite hard to fix because of the horrible placement.

After I fixed it, my aftermarket radio decided to stop working. It went crazy and won't always show the display and none of the buttons work and it won't play any music. Any ideas on that?

Some radios have a reset when you disconnect the battery, which you probably did. If you have the instructions, lokk under "set-up" for how to reset everything. If no instructions try online with the mfg. My wifes radio done that and drove us nuts. Finally found an 800 umber to call. Seems some have a security device of sorts that makes it not function correctly without the setup info. Try that.
