If you tap it, you will most likely need a larger bolt to put in after you make the new threads. The hei coil would be your best bet.

You can't retap it the same size if it was cross threaded and the threads are all chewed out of the hole. You will need to helicoil it or tap it bigger.

It works like winding a clock, inserting it into the drilled out hole, then releasing it.

You should be able to retap the hole, in my experience the hole has to be pretty screwed up to not be able to retap it. But if the previous owner did you over real good then you will need to use a heli-coil. With a heli-coil all you are doing is drilling the hole bigger and installing a set of threads. The outside of the thread insert will screw into the newly largened hole and the inside of the thread insert is the same thread as the original bolt. Let me know if you have any more questions...This stuff can get pretty aggrivating.

yeah, i dont have a tap and die set right now....i dont know anything about them and i hear i will need to take off the intake in order to do it....ive never pulled that before and dont know exactly how.........

i understand how a heli coil works but i dont know how to find out the size of the bolt hole so i can get the correct fitting bolt hole?

take the bolt down to your neighborhood hardware and let them tell you or go to were the nuts and bolts are and there should a plastic thing hanging some were, were you can slid the bolt through a hole to See what size it is. or just pick out nuts and see if they screw on nicely
