Soaring if you're looking to purchase the Factory yellow paint to paint the inside of the trunk and tank try these guys at Tower Paints! I bought a few cans of my Silver Smoke Grey and the color was dead on, they use PPG and put in a spray can! I can't believe it matched that good! I just did my power steering pump and I was 100% happy, it looks really nice!
I know its not stock color to paint the pump, but it's a 1967 pump in my 1965

Nice work! You've heard the phrase...rust never sleeps! I'm trying to decide which rust encapsulator to use on mine. POR 15??? I seen some rustoleum in a gallon can for "super rusted surfaces". 25 bucks a gallon. I wonder.... I'm afraid to use everything as I REALLY only want to do this once. Well, other than those pesky inspections that yeild the ugly cancer within! Huh, right!

I used some of the rustoleum primer for heavy rust after putting on some Ospho etcher to neutralize the rust on the floor boards. Had read some reviews about this on other sites and appears that many people have used/liked the combo. Got both products at Ace Hardware. Just my 2 cents...

red under insulation is the restoleum primer..

Thanks...I think I may try it. I was going to spray some rust converter and then the primer. It is the same you have I think. Thanks. ps: Would you rust it on your undercarriage? Just wondering if you had any info from that in the reviews you read.

Yeah, I have ordered a few of the pencil touch-up paint from Tower, and the color matches perfectly. So now I am going to go ahead and get a rattle can to spray in the trunk.

How much time did you spend on this? at what point would it have been better to just buy a new tank? I've got my new tank painted and waiting for me to burn through the tank of gas before swapping.

Of course I had to put in a new sending unit too and investigate why my gas gauge doesn't work so I opted for the new tank since I had to drain the old one anyway....
I spent less than 20 bux for the stuff to fix the rust and prime it. The rust had some small indentions in it, but no pin holes or anything. It is still a solid tank, so maybe it will last me a few more years. I try to get as much mileage out of things as I can before I replace them. My sending unit still works, so until it conks out, I will just keep it.

That's the one. You need to give them the year of your car, the color and paint code off of your door tag, and they will match it perfectly. They are also very good about answering your emails to them. Good guys!

Looks good soaring. To the guys that might be using rustoleum. make sure your topcoat is compatible with it.
there's something about the oil in rustoleum that can cause havoc with the topcoat.

Sorry to tromp on the thread but the info is good. I am swaying away from the Rustoleum. I read a couple reviews and they are less than favorable. Both said initially fine but it did mnot hold up to wear or abuse. I may do my trunk and interior floor and such, but tht may be all. If that. I see a couple other products with their claim to fame. Rust Bullit as well as POR 15 seem comp. Both at 100 bucks a gallon -vs- 25...gotta wonder, you get what you pay for.

Signed scared again! Sorry Soaring forn not simply adding another catagory.

No problem. You are on track. After using the Rust-Away, the rust turned black so I am hoping it will work well. Supposedly if the rust turns black a protective polymeric coating takes place and stops the rust in its' tracks. Like I said, I didn't have any POR 15, and I wanted to finish the job today. I tried to find it locally, but nada......One of you guys read what ingredients are used in POR 15, then let us know. Is there more than tannic acid and glycol ether?
