Salvage Title?
Did the insurance company total it out...and at what amount? Seems like 75% or more can be reused. You can get another and rebuild it with the parts. May be cheaper than fixing the entire structure and suspension. Pooh you have it, yea you can get it back. Although, it would suck to know you have to buy it back for more than your settlement. You could have told them "no" and kept it, bought another and moved on. But, if they gave you market value, buy it back for a song...you win. Take the diffrence and deduct from any potential selling price and see how it comes out. You may still win. Example. They give you 7 grand as settlement...you buy it for 2, you are ahead by 5K. So, if you sell it, you have a 5K pad due to "salvage title". and, you are honest, get ALL your money, get to play with it again (always a good thing!) and it all works out. If the math does not add up, move on.
I bought it for $10000. From the insuance I got $15000 for it and they offered it back for $4000 I refused and walked away with $5000. So I let it go to a salvage company and Im going to try to get it back for less than $4000. Does that make any sence. I realy loved my car and I really want it back.

What do you mean about most cars don't have titles? I have owned a zillion cars, and they all had titles. The three I currently have are titled. When you buy a car, whether it be used or new, you pay for taxes, title and license. Or, is that just Texas?

In GA, a car of that age is not required to have a title to register it and drive it....it is an option for a 40 yr old vehicle.

Then how do you prove the car is yours? A bill of sale perhaps?

that really doesn't make a whole lot of sense tho. you really think about it, someone can steal your car really quick. and ownership is 9/10's of the law (or something like that. i forget what exactly the saying is.) here in jersey, as with many other places (i hope) no matter the year, you must have a title to register, insure and plate your vehicle.
I have never heard of a car without a title.... That's like saying a house without a deed. While you may not have the title in hand, doesn't mean it doesnt exist. It may have become lost in which case you should get a copy from your local Motor Vehicle Deparment. Otherwise...what's to say someone doesn't have an official looking one that shows the car is theirs and basically says "that's my car I want it back'? What are you going to have to prove otherwise?
