Salvage Title?
Wow, let me figure out what classic car and I'll hire someone to steal it for me! Where the proof it was ever theirs!
Edit: I GUESS it makes sense though, can you imagine if the MVD or DMV had to keep records of EVERy title change. I would still think they would issue some sort of state sanctioned document though.

That Georgia thing may be explained like this. I don't know. They won't issue a new title if the old title was lost on any cars built before 1962. Still doesn't make sense to me. HELLO GEORGIA, wake up to the 21st century with computers that can keep track of all this stuff.

Wow! That is some strange stuff. I wonder what went into that kind of thinking? A car is a car no matter how old it is. If it still runs and drives up and down the highway, it has to be taxed, and in order to get plates, ownership has to be proven. How would I prove my 1957 Chevy is really mine? Or do 1962 and older cars not have plates in Georgia?
1962 and older model motor vehicles cannot be titled.
when there is a break in ownership u have to get the car inspected by a police officers (unless the bill of sale is from the owner thats in the states computer). as long as the vin comes up clean then u have to fill out an affidavit and get the officer to endorse it. i pretty sure u can get a bonded title from an insurance company and go to the dmv or in ga its now referred to as dds(dept of driver services). but yeah its crazy ud have proof its urs by getting a tag in ur name and not having a bill of sale from u to another person. I was referring to the fact that older cars in ga dont have titles, i figured most other states were the same way?
It depends::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::
In NY I know the in 1970 they did not issue titles. The only thing I have is the insurance card on it and the registration.
It may depend on the state.
Also the othe rmemeber said:
In GA, a car of that age is not required to have a title to register it and drive it....it is an option for a 40 yr old vehicle.
In the state of Maine a car older than 15 years does not require a title. I know this because I purchased my car up in Maine and it did not have a current title. When I went to register it in Massachusetts at first they insisted it have a title until they looked it up and saw the laws of the state of Maine.
BTW, what hit that car to cause such damage?

Yeah it was a durango. but anyway yall got off the subject. Is it a bad Idea to fix the car if it will have a salvage title?

if you wanna sell it, you'll prolly not get as much and you'd really have to be honest about it. you prolly would be lucky to get back what you put into it.
if it's for you, go for it and go all out!
