Perhaps you mean armature? If so, recoiling the wiring in an electric motor such as the starter would be very time consuming and frustrating. There is really no need to do that since the original electric motors such as the starter don't look any different than rebuilt ones.

I have......several times. Then I totalled it...and a shop redid the body and paint for me......then the motor blew up.....and a shop redid that for me too. For the most part though, I do all my own work when ever possible and I feel confident when I talk about what I have done to the car.

OH! You mean amateur, as in not a professional. It's funny how when you get two letters backwards that it changes the meaning of a word completely. Yeah, I do all the mechanical work on my car. It has never been in a shop to have any mechanical work done.

if someone is going to pay for a resto, they would be better off buying a car already done.
you can mix it up, do what you're capable of and have a pro do what you can't.

there is a certain amount of pride in doing things yourself. you can tell at car shows who does there own work. they have a bigger grin when you compliment their car.[sm=smiley16.gif]

I work on mine on-the-go. That would vary from the dwelling I may be living at the time, to on the road. At my previous location, I often found nice places to work on it at. I liked to work and tinker with things in the parking lot of club "La Vela" at all hours of the night and day, Often the night/early morning. Out of the six months I was doing that, nobody ever gave me trouble. It was a huge parking lot, and the club was lightly active only during fri-sat. The location was right on the beach.

I miss living in PCB. =\
