Try stripping and painting your own car. Before the paint you have to fix all the issues. Thats is what I am doing myself and the interior this winter. The engine I will leave to a pro. I will do the front disk brakes next.

OH! You mean amateur, as in not a professional. It's funny how when you get two letters backwards that it changes the meaning of a word completely. Yeah, I do all the mechanical work on my car. It has never been in a shop to have any mechanical work done.
Even front end alignments Glen?? Please, Now my car is in dire need of a front end alignment.
I haven't had to align the front end in the 10 years I have owned Ol' Yeller because I stay on the road and don't hit stuff to kick it out of alignment as you seem to have a talent of doing. But, yeah, whenever I put the front disks on, I will need to have it aligned by a pro.

Out of all... 4 or 5 other cars I checked here, my Mustang has almost perfect, if not perfect, alignment. o.O I replaced some minor suspension parts too.

Once again I see how much "I've got it made!" I built a 2-1/2 car garage, 24x30 for my paint shop. In one side I have all my shop supplies, work area, lounge of sorts, etc. The other is for spraying only. I made a semi downdraft paint booth out of 1 half. My stang is in the paint half and everytime I paint a new project, (mostly motorcycles...more money, less space needed!) I cover the car and press on. I have about 8 feet in front of the car I do my spraying in. The garage is pretty much dedicated to the car. It will never see rain again, well, unless I'm caught out in it driving. I am doing 100% of the work myself. I have done it all at one point or another, just not all of it on one car! Cutting, gutting, bending, welding, wrenching. Hours and hours of sanding and grinding. Prep is forever but the end is grand! All a labor of love. If it takes me a year, so be it. I wonder what I'll do when it's done??? The wife says I'll sell it an get another. I told her she is half right...I aint selling it!

Signed, Lucky Dawg!

anybody know any reputable shops to do restorations? Mustang specialists? Just inherited a '65 Convertible and it will need some body work, paint, roof, upholtstery (oh yeah, it's been sitting in a barn for about 12 years). I should be able to handle under the hood but looking for recommendations there as well.

while i'm at it, anyone know a good shipping service?

thanks much for any help.
