Default intake removal

I have been searching around and maybe I just miss it but I am getting ready to convert my C code 289 to a 4 barrel carb and was looking for a good set of instructions for the install to make sure I dont miss something.

I have the edl performer intake, edl 500cmf carb with electric choke

I know I need the intake gaskets and new valve cover gaskets. I also need the throttle linkage adapter. What else part wise do I need and does anyone know of a good set of instructions or tech article that talks about this.

thanks

Get a shop manual! Also, some good instructions in Mustang Restoration Handbook. Available from NPD or others. I did the intake mod a few months ago. I can tell you guide bolts are a must as you need to lower it right on the money the first time. I bought longer intake bolts and cut the heads off and used them as guides to lower the intake into position. If you have any questions PM or email me.

When you put the new intake manifold on, be sure you put some blue RTV on the corners and torque it in the right sequence. Start from the middle and work to the outside. Just nudge the bolts all down then start with about a 9 or 10 ft-lbs. You may want to make about three passes with the torque wrench. The final torque will be between 12-18 ft-lbs. DO NOT exceed 24.

If you haven't already installed the manifold here is a good article with photos. I used it when I did mine. It is in the FAQ
