if the car starts with the switch in the on position, something is wired wrong, like 67t5 said.

i appreciate it 66 this has been not quite a nightmare but right around the whole falling and then waking up before u hit kinda dream ....but if the jackass i bought the car from wouldnt have getto fyde the wiring it would have been fine but i think this might just about have it. except for that wire black with green stripe hmmm... thats what u get when someone tries a set of auto meter gauges and an aftermarket stereo i was original once and thats how i want it.

yeah, i hate it when people butcher up the wiring of a old car. My mustang was not butchered... Well, it sorta was, when i bought it, there was a stereo harness laying on the floor. but the way they had it wired, it didn't mess anything up. I just pulled the wires out, and taped. No broken, or missing wires. Now, i put in a stereo, and amp, and everything, but once again, i didn't do anything, that couldn't be pulled out, and still be all original. Now, my 62 impala's dash in another story, it's a nightmare under there.

it splits and goe the the constant voltage reg for the guages, the wipers and it goes back to the fuse block to power up a bunch of stuff. That wire should go on the center stud of the ignition switch. What are the colors on the Soleniod and which is hooked up were? There are schematics in the FAQ section.
