The 1 bbl is a really simple carb, just pay attention when you disassemble, and make sure everything is CLEAN before reassemble, the kits used to be pretty cheap for those, and don't think it would be very much now, so its worth the try. As much as you have worked on the car this should not be that bad a task.

thanks man. i'm gonna look into the rebuild kit shortly. i have to worry about drilling and re-tapping the head bolts first, than get a new set of hoses. i broke one of the metal ones that goes from the exhaust manifold to the carb during disassembly.

Thanks for all the help guys, pulled the valve covers and its cylinder 6 intake valve. I think Im gonna go with the quick fix and replace the heads
