Default HELP! IM IN BOLT HELL!!

im tryin to put front suspension of my drivers side. taking off the fender wasnt too hard, just took some strength and PB Blaster lol. After i took that off i went to remove the shock as i was taking off the cover (i dont know exactly whats its called so im calling it a cover) i was removing the bolts and the first two came off very easily but the i noticed that the third one the thread was spinning with the nut and i know that bolt is sposed to welded down into position. so i thought i would just cut the damn thing off and put a new one in But as it happens the bold it right next to the engine compartment wall so i coudnt very well get to it with my disk grinder so that plan was trashed. so then i asked my dad and he suggested that we cut a little slice in the top of the bolt and hold it with a screwdriver, so we did that and of course it didnt work becuase the nut is stuck tight to the bolt (even after spraying about a 1/4 of a can of Pb Blaster on it) tomorrow were gonna take and dremel to it and get that damn thing off. Any suggestions? and btw im still tryin to get a digital camera to post pics

Those bolts are basicly cap screws round head with a square underneath the shock tower is sloted to hold it. like most the slot is worn where it will not hold the bolt from turning you can cut it but you are going to have problems installing a new one also, and they shouldn't of been welded. You need a patch pannel for the shock tower to fix it correctly. Have you unbolted the shock itself yet if not doso and try sliding the shocktower cap out of the slot. it may be tough becuse the spring is putting preasure on it.

without taking off that top piece we cant get the shock out becuase it is fully extended cuz the tire is off and the car is on jackstands so the shock is fully extended...

If you could get in there with a cut off wheel to put a slot in the head of the bolt. Use the same technique but move the wheel back and forth until you cut the head off the bolt.
