I HATE RICERS!!!!!!!!!
talk about needing to knock on wood there. That sux 4 the guy with the dear. But as for the car I am a 17 year old and see alot of those ricers around school. What i really dont get is why they take a 2000 dollar or less car and prob put over 4000 dollars of parts in it. It just doesnt make sense at all. Especially since you know if you sell those cars they would maybe pull 3000 dollars. So my definition of a riser is as follows. The car started cheap and non agressive. The person put more than the car is worth into body modification and stereo systems. and last the car is still not worth alot. The thing i find with older cars is making a shelby kit actually raises the value of the car. So i do not consider that to be a ricer
And as for street racing or raceing at all. Driving your car shouldnt be about who is the fastest and strongest. What it really should be about is turning heads. It doesnt matter what horsepower someone jacks a civic up to. It would never turn my head. But there isnt a classic mustang out there that i try to stop and look at.

THis has been an entertaining thread to read.
First off as was said before...NO STREET Racing!!!! Most drag strips have a grudge night or Highschool challenge night. You want to race your friends take it to the track don't put me and my family and friends at rick because of your stupidity.
Now to the subject of RICERs. Each generation has seen an evolution in the definition of hot rodding and the car enthusiast. Whether it is the classic guys with the restored model Ts or 30 and 40 cars, or the restored european cars or the guys with the concourse mustangs or the restomods or the younger guys with their "Riced" compact sports cars (import or domestic) it all comes down to the fact that the auto hobby is evolving. Everyone has their own taste and that's what is great about this hobby, I don't have to make my car exactly like yours to have it be a nice car or fast or whatever. I mean how boring would it be if everyone was driving around 67 fastback eleanor clones?
The imports for the most part are cheaper for a kid to buy used, they are cheaper on gas on a kids limited income (most don't have full-time jobs or trust funds). parts are cheap and readily available. So they choose show over go because a lot of them don't have the know how to tear into an engine, not many schools offer autoshop anymore.
My biggest pet peeve is the attitude and it is my experience (and this thread in a way is reinforcing it) that you don't have to be a ricer to have the "young, dumb and full of ***" attitude that your the $hit and the laws of the road don't apply to you. I see this from "riced" out cars and and POS beaters alike. I think it is a reflection on our society as a whole; We want it Bigger, Better and faster and everyone feels that their issues are the most important and don't care about the guy next to you.
If you do in fact have a car with a 400 hp 302( you said it was stroked so probably better than 302) then you should not feel that you have anything to prove to your ricer buddies. If they have issues with your ride, tell them to put up or shut up and take it to a track your 400 hp vp shouldn't have anything to worry about with the 2.2l fartcan-mobile. If it's just about braqggin, talk is cheap and doesn't hurt anyone, take their word for what it's worth, and go on with your day.
just my 2 cents. The cars are ok it's the bad attitude of the driver that I hate and it doesn't just apply to Ricers. It could be the soccer mom in the ford excursion talking on the cell phone or the constrution worker beating the $hit out of the company truck while riding my bumper on the turnpike because they don't think doing 75 MPH in a 65MPH zone is fast enough for them.

I'm 20, and I'd be surprised if I didnt wreck that car by now. All young people think they know everything and are the badest on the planet, me included, but I realize this so I think it gives me an upper hand
. I am just waiting for life to smack my young a$$ into reality

Me too.

I'm stilll waiting to hear how a 16 year-old built (and keeps from wrecking) a 400 hp small block...

It sounds like you have a really big head on your shoulders because of your muscle car and I would love to see you put in your place.
Just remember...there is always someone faster then you. Some can even do it in a "ricer."
I think you should just grow up and learn the entire hobby instead of just one aspect. Get to know some new people without shooting your mouth off and go for a ride in a few different cars...muscle, import, euro, etc.
Mustang = not the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Jes had a couple good points.. one of them is attitude. Being considerate of other drivers seems to be fading, everything from tailgating and cutting people off so they cant merge in a construction zone to leaving your brights on while behind someone. Add stupidity to an attitude that drivers who do those sorts of things to it and often you have a kid with moms Honda, or his brothers used up Iroc. I try to be considerate of others, its a pitty that so many people are thinking about "ME ME ME ME ME"
Attitude about cars is another one. I dont mind someone putting stuff all over thier car, its thier car. I think its stupid and a waste, but its what they wanna do. What irritates me is when someone, kid or not, goes on and on about how fast his car is. How he beats modded LS1s, Vettes and Vipers with his baddazz ride. I find the Neon guys are guilty of this more than Honda kids are. All attitude because they just know what they have is faster than ANYTHING. Then at the track, they stroll up and ask what we ran, and its a full second faster than what thier modded car ran and mine is stock. Yeah the daily driver is faster than thier hotrod, and they got all mad when I mentioned that in a conversation with people we both know. I mentioned it before I proved it to him, but still.. Nevermind that my daily driver is a full 3 seconds slower than the toy, so his little Neon needed some help.
Keep throwin money at it, it might go someday.
Then they proceed to drive like a moron weaving around cars and cutting people off, because they have a "race car" and they have the same driving skillz as Jeff Gordon or Junior. They think Mark Martin should be callin them to ask for driving tips and speed secrets...
