What does these numbers mean?
I took these codes of the drivers side door-I know they tell you what the car was originally-body 76A, color A, trim26a, date 206, d.s.o. 15, axle (nothing), trans.66.
can someone put some meaning to these numbers.By the way the car is a red 66 convertible 289
Thanks Scott

My quick take on it:
Body 76A = Convertable w/ Std Interior
Color A = Raven Black
Trim 26 = black with black trim (didn't see an "a" variant)
Date 206 = 20th of June (???)
d.s.o. 15 = Newark
Trans 6 = C-4 Automatic (again, didn't see an additional "6" variant)
I would have guessed the plate looked more like "76A A 26 20F 15 "x" 6
Ah hell, just check out this site. I can't gaurantee it's accuracy... Perhaps someone has a better one.

Thanks so much I will check out the site-I am surprised the car was once black-it seems to be red all over-not even the slightest hint of ever being originally black-I am in NY so the newark thing makes sense-I am new to this hobby and I love the info from this forum-Thanks Scott
