Default ALT light on

Hi All,

My ALT light on my 65 Coupe is on. It always worked properly as far as i know, until this morning, it stayed on. I already had the alternator and battery checked/tested, they are fine the auto parts guy told me. What do you all think might be causing the ALT light to stay on. I ran a search on the forum but didnt find much. Im going to check all my connections and clean them up a bit, tighten down, etc. Please help if you can. Thanks.

If your idiot light is working properly, it is telling you that your alternator is not charging your battery. But, if you had it checked and it is OK, then yeah, you probably have a connection problem somewhere. Start with the back of your alternator, then check the solenoid, then check to see that your Voltage Regulator is plugged in good. Five bucks says your alternator is toast.

Then your out 5 bucks this time. I got lucky i guess, it was my voltage regulator. My connections werent looking so hot, but they were fine, swapped out the volt reg and problem solved (for now). Thanks.
