Default cross member removal

hello,
there is a support cross member that runs below the oil pan on my 66'. i need to remove it to get in the new lower control arms. the previous owner had put in some really crappy bolts and i cut them out when i was removing the suspension. i can't seem to loosen the bolts that hold on the cross member. any sugestions?
thanks,
jonny

get some good penetraiting oil like "Liquid Wrench" and soak the bolts with it and let it sit overnight. Hit them with a hammer several times to break loose the corrosion and then spray some more penetrating oil on them. Then get a long breaker bar and try loosing them if you don't have access to an impact wrench. You might need to add a cheater bar to the breaker bar to get enough torque to knock them loose also but you run the risk of breaking the breaker bar if you go too far with the cheater bar.
You should also make sure you get the proper grade automotive fasteners when you do your restoration so you don't have a failure of any of the fasteners. Use at least a grade 5 bolt or grade 8 if you can get them, especially in the suspension system.

If you can get them off any other way, you can get a nut cutter. It leaves a mark on your bolt and that not good. you might try heating them up.
