1 is the deck. The deck I have in now is a mustang kenwood radio/tape deck and I don't think it has a lot of power. I want to keep the classic look so, I don't think I want to put in a new deck in it's place. I saw a head unit on www.customautosound.com that looked ok, but I'm still not sure about it. I did think about putting one in the glove box, but I don't think there's enough room for it. Has anyone else tried to do this?
Yes, and no. I have the Secret Audio unit without the CD changer. I had the unit itself put into the glove box and it's small, probably the size of a pack of cigarettes. The head unit is under the dash, hidden, using pre-existing screws so they did no drilling whatsoever. I could have it put into the trunk but didn't want to do any drilling.

I had speakers put into the package tray and needed new kick panels anyway so bought ones with speakers. The sound is amazing and it's one of the best things I did for my car. The remote control makes it easy to change stations and you need not open the glove box door to do it.

Resto I like your custom housing in the trunk. Can you remove that? Does it have too much base? How does your car handle the base?

Mustang Pammie I looked at those hidden units. Can you post pics of the unit in your car? Also, can you attach an ipod to it?

Batmanstang,
Yes the unit is removable with the disconnections. The bass is great and is adjustable with the alpine sound system and head unit. Ipod can plug in and pound out the tunes and also mp3 compatable.

I like that housing in the trunk but I have a problem with the center console. A friend of mine with a 280z did the same thing, and I could never hear the right channel. I love my stereo sound and prefer my music to be reproduced like it would be a high end home audio setup.

I have seen a lot of cd player in glove boxes but have not yet mounted one in my mustang.

Mine doesn't have that feature as I didn't want it, but sure, when I get it back from the body shop later today I'll take a picture for you.

I could have gone with a hidden Sirius Radio unit as well but it had more features than I needed.

When i was redoing my interior i put new speakers in the dash and in the kick panels...also i took the old interior vinyl and put that in the back window so it matches the upholstery with some pioneer 6x9's....it looks and sounds better than it was and it wont hurt the value

HERE is a really old thread where I installed mine. I mouted a cdplayer in the glovebox then wired in a relay so the old am radio operates the CDplayer. People think my original radio sounds great
