Default my 66 mustang has rust issues

i just purchased a 66 mustang coupe. it has the inline 6 with a 3 speed on the floor. i have been looking it over and i have been told it has too much rust to try and restore it. to me it looks as if it could be a great ride if i put the time and money into it. it doesn't appear to have too much rust to me. it has some underneath the battery on the frame, the doors have surface rust on the inside, there is a small hole in the trunk, there is also some holes in the driver and passenger floorboards. if anyone has any advice please let me know what you would do with it. i'm 17 so keep that in mind.
