As for what engines will work, anything rear wheel drive with a 5.0 or 5.8 in it, trucks, Lincoln, LTD, Thunderbird, Mustang, just pop the hood and look for a non modular V8. Most often they are in pre 95 cars and trucks.
don't forget about v8 explorers. '96-97 have gt-40 heads and '98-? have gt-40p. both year ranges have the cobra lower intake as well. i don't remember if they have a roller cam or not (most trucks do not). all of the post-86 blocks are roller capable.
only bad thing is that most of them are part of the CARS program. the heads should be good though.
