How do I adjust the lifters on my 1965 coupe?
Thanks, Chelle

If it has hydraulic lifters you have to turn the engine over until the lifter is off the cam lobe. Loosen the rocker arm nut and then tighten it until the tip of the rocker touches the valve stem with no clearance left. From that point you tighten the nut another 1/2 to 3/4 turn. You should probably have the engine warm to do this.

If you try to run the engine with the valve covers off be prepared to squirt oil all over your fenders. I just set the cover back on to deflect the oil for a short run to be sure there are none clicking.

Ok, this is the first time I have ever worked on an engine. I'm female but machanically inclined. I have done a lot of the body and engine work myself since I got the car. But, is this something I should have someone else do for me, or can I follow insturctions in a book with any questions being answered here? Because to tell you the truth, I ran my Chilton's over.
