On going Inline 6 Project
Sorry I haven't replied back sooner, I forget to click on the block that notifies me a that a reply was make, so I'll try to reply to everyone in one posting as much as possible. First and formost, I haven't the foggest idea of how to set up my own web page. Took me forever on another site to figure out how to even post avatars, much less signatures and topic pictures. In rrespection the comments of the first post, I thought long and had about going with the mods because there are many in our hobby that just don't like any monifications. especially major body and engine/carb configurations. So I've split it up, body, mostly stock other than conversion to five lug front and rear, the interior, mild and reasonably stock looking other that I have installed one of the new 6 guage instrument pods, and mods to my heart's content under the hood. Some of us "older" guys used to refer to the appearance as the "sleeper" look. It is, as noticed by Soring, that it's a 3 1bbl system (on an Offenhaused 5205 adapter), all Autolites come from 1963's models, Falcons 170's. I bought the rebuilt stock 200 CID out of CA with no more over bore than needed to put in new rings. Added a 264/274-112 degree cam set for mild performance with oversize SS valves and a mild port and polish on exhaust during the past month, and already had with 6 into 2 headers. I did the bending and 37.5 degree flares on the SS fuel lines and so far they have held up onder pressure. Had it running and it sounded grea twith fantastic response under no load, but turned out I had a serious vac leak in rubber o-rings between log head and adapter, so it bogged down as soon as put in gear. I torn it back down late yeaterday afternoon while waiting on new orings or a brainstrm on how to mate the adapter and the log. Got 1970 C4 and 2.80 gears now, and hope eventually to go 3.30 for a little better off the line. As this is a learn as I go process, so it's been slow enough as is, much less a couple of setbacks due to my being more a parts replacer than being a mechanic.
