Well, The one that is hard shifting in first isn't the C4, it's my LeSabre. It doesn't freewheel and than slam into gear, but I have noticed a little bit from a stop it'll hit hard. the suspension is screwed too so when it downshifts from 2nd to 1st, the front end kicks up real hard! This is why I want a 5 speed again!

I drive with the pedal to the metal when taking off and letting the auto shift gears, and this thing would literally jolt your head back to the rear window when it shifted
People spend alot of money to get a trans to shift like that... I have internal mods I do to make it shift like that. People are surprised when a TH350 leaves rubber on the road on the 1-2 and will bark big tires goin into 3rd and it hits so hard you wonder if the Ujoints are up to it..

I dont like them to shift that hard, it breaks stuff. Some people want that. Not hard to do. I like it quick so the acceleration is more linear, but also I drive large CI engines on a daily basis..

Yeah, I was pulling a trailer with about 5K pounds of household goods on it last summer when I was moving from the old farm place to my retirement home, and the damn thing did that to the point to where I literally thought I would be picking up the drive shaft off the highway. It was not a new racing tranny where all the parts were new, and obviously the PO shut off the engine while it was hot with pulling heavy trailers, so the internals were toasted. There is a difference between performance shifting and a screwed tranny shifting.
