289 V-8 engine color
i had a 65 2dr hard top fairlane 289 3spd . it was green with a white top & gold valve covers. my brother had a poppy red or orange 2+2 mustang 4spd 289 with blue valve covers. we really liked those cars.

I didn't know that about the late 65's Matt. Thanks for the info. However, I beg to differ with you regarding the 64 1/2 260 V8. It was blue. This may clear up any confusion.

My mustang must be late 65 if purchased in dec. of 64 cause the engine was Ford Blue
someone had painted gold, I look at Ford Blue,Old Ford Blue, & Dark Ford Blue from duplicolor
I went with the Old Ford Blue to repaint the engine.

I see from the post that everyone is saying that a 65 mustang has a gold air cleaner & valve covers & black block. My mustang was purchased in dec. 64 has a 289 2 barrel carb & the engine is all blue, so can anyone tell me why my 289 is blue & not gold/black.
