Need help bleeding a new Master Cylinder
I have asked several people this same thing so some of you may have already seen this request before.
I'm stumped right now on trying to bleed a brand new master cylinder on a 1967 mustang.
I bench bled the new master cylinder and it went OK. I installed the MC on the car and gravity bled all four brakes and that went OK. I had to fix some leaks in the new metal brakes lines I installed and then pressed the brake pedal a few times to see if I had anymore leaks. I did the gravity bleed again but this time, there was no fluid out of the rear brake lines. So I thought the problem was with the distribution block. I then bypassed the rear brake lines on the distribution block but it didn't help. I then removed the brake lines from the MC and did a bleed on the car (I made sure the MC was level before I did the bleed). I could see a lot of fluid movement on the front brake reservoir but none on the rear brake reservoir. So, I assumed that the brand new MC was defective. I returned it to NAPA and got another brand new MC. But it did the same thing. When I disconnected all the metal hoses from the MC, brake fluid dripped from the front brake line opening but not from the rear brake line opening.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you routed around the distribution block and you still didn't get any fluid to the rear brakes, it could only be two things. The MC is not pumping fluid to the rear, or the rear lines are blocked off somehow. Try blowing air through the lines and see if they are stopped up. You will need to bench bleed the MC again if you ran it dry.
After I bench bleed the MC on the car, I don't get any brake fluid out of the rear brake reservoir with the brake lines removed. Brake fluid drips out of the front brake reservoir but none from the rear brake reservoir. So it's more likely what you said "MC is not pumping fluid to the rear". What would cause this? It can't be a bad MC because I've tried two brand new MC. The only thing that I can guess is that the pushrod is either too long or too short. I don't know enough about MC to determine which way would improve the situation.
