Water pump impeller disc
Have any of you guys replaced your stock water pump with an after-market high-flow water pump? There is a water pump in the Summit catalog by Flow Kooler that claims to double the water flow at low rpms but lets the flow drop back to normal above 3,500 rpm. They say their pump “uses a steel plate in front of the impeller that traps water, increasing flow and reducing engine temperatures”. Does this sound legit to those who know better than I do how the water pump’s innards work? Flow Kooler also offers just the impeller disc for $5.95, as opposed to $78.88 for their entire pump. Anybody have any thoughts/opinions on this? Thanks!

Sounds like it may rob HP. I would look to see if there is a bettre way to cool your motor down.

I only ever run high volume water pumps. Milodon, Flowkooler, Edelbrock etc are all very high quality pumps. The high volume is almost a necessity if you go for a high performance engine and live in a warm climate, especially if you do city driving and get caught in traffic. I've never had a cooling problem and it can get pretty hot around here. I even got stuck in construction a month or so ago for about 30 minutes and it was 115 outside and my engine didn't even get much past being warmed up
