Are the Inline 6 spindels the same as for a V8? May be a safety issue due to the extra weight. As far as the I6's, a lot of tracks banned them in the 60's because they were spanking a lot of the V8's.
What's the point of banning a car for being faster??

i was just curious, how much harder would it be to drop a 429 in as opposed to a 289 or 302??

i know, the engine is pretty much huge...i was just curious tho because i bought a 67 mustang w/a i6 and the guy gave me a 429 with it and i was wondering if i would be better off selling the 429 and picking up a 289 or 302.

me too!

How rare is the 429 in the US?
Is there a possibility that it is a Boss engine???

If I was going to swap out the 6 for an 8 and someone said here's a free 429...How much harder could it be to fit than a 302?
They did fit big blocks to the 67, so it should be possible. However, I'm pretty sure they had to make some mods to shock towers etc in the 69 Boss to fit the 429. Maybe you could swap it for a 390 or a 428 like the GT 500. I'm not sure how much wider the 429 is that either of those 2...man what a great dilemma to have

i know, its a great dilemma to have isn't it . know that im going to keep the i6 in it for a while, its more practical for me at the moment but a 429 would be awesome. oh and i was wondering, what could i do to make the i6 sound a little better, you know, more like a v8?

WHOA! you got a 429 for free??? i don't know if it will fit between the shock towers but it might fit....i know other big blocks fit...it would suck to change spark plugs but if i had a 429, id get a mustang II front suspension installed and get rid of the shock towers....u should find out what kinda 429 it is and if it really is a 429.....

haha ya it was kind of a way for me to justify the $4000 price tag for a i6 mustang. i thought $4k was a little high but once the guy was like, "oh and i also have a big block 429 if you want it" i was sold

I'll try to fit your 429 in my car first if you want....Just so you can see if it fits[sm=badbadbad.gif]
