Most of the missing sheet metal is parts that would need to be replaced anyway because of rust or damage. Good job. Take lots of pictures and post them. It gives some of the rest of us hope and insperation!

Yep,
That's mine. It's a 67 coupe. It wasn't as bad as the 65 but it was pretty far gone too. It now has a 429, C6, Grenada front spindles and rear disk on a 9" Versalles rear-end. I wanted a Shelby all my life (well at least as long as I can remember) and I just don't think I'll ever have one so I decided to make my own version.

The 65 had another front clip welded on poorly and the rear frame rails were gone after the hump over the axle. We basicaly only saved the roof and cut everything else away. Even the tail light panel was from another car.
I will try to keep up the posts. Our goal is to have the shell done by mid February.

SAWEET!!I'm so jealous. Thanks for the pics! Good lord I could probably run a mile long thread on all of the questions and things running through my mind about your set up there, but I'll settle for the pics for now. What color are you going to paint it? Racing stripes? Do please keep up the posts on your progress.

tdlabru,
Thanks for the comments. Any pics of yours?
My 67 is got red interior. I have just finished customizing the instrument panel. I put a 68 oil pressure gauge where the clock was and a 67 Cougar Tach where the oil/amp gauges were. Since the gauge faces didn't all match I went with a white face overlay and changed the bulb covers to red/orange.
Since the inside is red I was thinking of red outside too but I would really like to go black. Not sure my bodywork is good enough for black. I'm going to call it "Super Coupe" and I was thinking of a strip like the 68 California Special but maybe doing like the 07 California Special where it fades out since the Eleanor scoop on the side will not look good with a clean break of the stripe.
Not sure I will have any stripes though. I also like the newer Bullit wheels, what do you think?

Is that a tri-carb six in your Mustang?

Hey Tarafied, great work.
What's with the side vents on your '67 (very nice by the way)? It looks like you have removed the fins. Are they open/functional somehow. Any closer pics?
Looks cool.

coda618,
Actually it is just the pot metal fin like parts are out. I do plan to put the Eleanor side scoops on. They are functional right now. I did a burnout the other day and smoke was rolling out of 'em. My son said it looked pretty cool.
