Tarafied, i was going to say, you ought to put some shelby scoops on the side, but i see you're going to have that covered. lol

Thanks guys,
I'm not sure we kept the rim off the doner. The 65 has a long way to go. We haven't welded anything yet. Its all held together with screws and clamps as we tweak and measure everything to get it just right.
The 67 will get the full Eleanor kit with flares, side scoops and skirts. I just haven't got that far yet. I have a tendancy to start many projects and spread my time thin.
Anyway, glad to hear that as we undertook such a rough car, that you guys think we aren't totalt nuts.
The 65 we hope to finish for around $12K but I think that will be adjusted up as we go. The 67 should be done for around $20K give or take a few bucks. We save a lot of money doing almost everything ourselves. The cars won't win any awards but they will survive the crusher!!!

Like the instrument panel, I was thinking of doing similar. I got a Cougar clock which I was going to use where you put the tach and go with guages across the top. Good work, you are making me feel verrrry lazy.

tdlabru,
Thanks for the comments. Any pics of yours?
My 67 is got red interior. I have just finished customizing the instrument panel. I put a 68 oil pressure gauge where the clock was and a 67 Cougar Tach where the oil/amp gauges were. Since the gauge faces didn't all match I went with a white face overlay and changed the bulb covers to red/orange.
Since the inside is red I was thinking of red outside too but I would really like to go black. Not sure my bodywork is good enough for black. I'm going to call it "Super Coupe" and I was thinking of a strip like the 68 California Special but maybe doing like the 07 California Special where it fades out since the Eleanor scoop on the side will not look good with a clean break of the stripe.
Not sure I will have any stripes though. I also like the newer Bullit wheels, what do you think?

ACADIST,
That sounds cool. I should have gone with some Autometer gauges or something but I had a wild hair and wanted a Foose kinda factory but not look, if ya know what I mean...

They dont think you are nuts because you are doing a 66 fastback, it will actuallybe worth something, probably about what you put in it, maybe more. They are used to seeing pics of my "Pit of Despair" 71 fastback. It might be worth what I have in it when its done. They like yours better... lol.

Starting with a car that is down to nothing seems easier if you have a working knowledge of what is supposed to be there. Having to cut a huge amount of crap off the car just to kill rust really bites.. [:@]

you have that thing lookin good, I am jealous... mostly of the weather you have there, still warm? Sounds like an awesome plan with the updated front end, drivetrain etc. Anyone can throw paint at a car, it takes a lunatic to put one together from a piece of cowl and a roof panel...

Types like us are few and far between, might be good, might be not so good

"Pit of Dispair" I like the sound of that. Thanks for the words. The older ones are easier to get parts for I would think. It sure seemed like a bad choice at first but it is really looking good. Once we are sure everything is square and aligned we begin to weld and then sand and prime. Then it will look like a car again. We could have almost just built it totaly from repop parts but some things still arent available. Anyway we do have a nice 66 coupe to measure off of and reference things.
Anyway thanks, I know I feel good about saving one more. Glad there are people who do too. Keep up the good fight.

oh, yes it is still warm but above normal. It should be in the 40's and it has been in the 60's so we are taking full advantage!
