I prefer the coupe for a couple of reasons. 1. They are cheaper 2. They have head room for two or maybe even three adults in the rear seat. 3. They have a real trunk.
However, if all you want is a car for two people, then the fastback is fine. I have owned several strictly sports cars in my life, and they do have a place in our car world. The Mustang, however, was first designed as the American cheap sports/family car, and not designed as a strictly sports car. I love my coupe.
