Default Squeaks and Moans

Seems like I could drive over a penny and my suspension squeaks and moans like I was taking it off road - where are the first places to inspect? Suspension is one area I know nothing about...

i think it's just 69's cause i also have one and it squeaks too. I rebuilt the entire front end except the sway bar bushings, shoot it full of grease, had it aligned at firestone and it still squeaks. Had no sounds in my 67.

You need to grease your suspension. Start with your upper and lower control arms. If you don't have grease zerks there, then get them there. Same goes with the other suspension parts. Duhhhhhh!

Spend the money and get the spring perches with the roller earings in them instead of the rubber bushings. While the spring is out, replace the rubber insulators on the top end. Grease everything and make sure the ball joints, tie rod ends, and control arm bushings dont have alot of excess play in them, and you shouldnt have any more squeaks.

After all of that, remember it is a 40 year old car and its going to have noises. get louder mufflers with a set of headers, and turn up the stereo.

Todd

Get a friend, (Im assuming you have one) you and the friend get a can of WD40. one of Yous get under the car and the other one pushes down on a fender, The one under the car lets fly with the WD40 util the sqeek stops, Thats the problem to fix. (the last thing you put WD40 on) anywhere that metal and rubber meet.
