Default Pertronix

I've been looking into getting a Pertronix system to replace my original points system. I see there is a Pertronix and Pertronix II. Is the number II worth the extra money? Also should I get the coil that goes with it? One has 40000 volts and II has 45000 volts. What is the best option for a 1971 351C. What are the benefits.

Pertronix for the win. I'm not sure about the difference between the 2 and 1 but you'll definitely need the new coil. It'll be fine on that engine. You'll get a bunch of benefits because it is just all around better than the stock points. There's tons of info online about them.

it tells you the difference. basically [*]Compared to the original Ignitor develops an average 3 times more available energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM and nearly doubles available plug voltage.

+1 on the Pertronix. Best upgrade I did to my engine. I am sure I did the Pertronix I. And definately get the coil that goes with it. Might as well get the spark plug wires too.

Get the Pertronix Ignitor II. The 45,000 volts ignition coil and at least 8mm plug wires. You'll be glad you did. Piece of cake to install.

+1... I ended up getting the whole shabang on Ebay last year..

Pertronix Ignitor II
Flamethrower II
Pertronix 7mm Plug Wires

All for 165.... best deal out there

Here's a current auction for the EXACT same listing I bought last year

Try to find them all for that price individually

Here's also a link for the same seller with the regular

Pertronix I, Flametrower I, and 7mm plug wires for $135

I looked at that one too.... but decided I might as well spend the extra 30 bucks and get the newer II's.
