I like the ole long nose stangs myself. I think they ride better than their predecessors. So what if you can land a helicopter on the hood and the rear view looks like your lookingout ofa Normandy bunker. I still like them. A 429 Super Cobra Jet is not too shabby either.

Last of the long nose Mustangs. Just think if the Arabs didn't wave their flag in the in the 70's, what engine do you think Ford would haveput in these pickup bed sized engine bays. I know that "Shelby" aluminum intakes were cast and sold for the 429's. Also I think a Boss 9 will easily shoe right in. I think in the next few years, these cars will come into their own as I see the values of these climbing every day. As far as the car in my profile, yes it's mine, or was untill my 12 year old girl claimed it. Since its powered by a Supercharged 5.4 32v modular (with a 125 shot of NOS), I don't think I'lllet her learn to drive in it.

you know i heard ford had huge plans for this body style..they built the body to handle big motors and lots of power...and got shut down cause of emissions and insurance companies...429 boss would of been a monster.....the car would of had a much better rep than it got.

the price has went up...once a few fetch a high price on barrett jacksons..it will be all over for the comon guy who wants one of this year...im lucky i got mine when the price was rock bottom..i paid 1500 for mine 12 years ago...i had alot ofnice offers for it..including my dad who sold me the car..lol..he tried to trade me his harley heritage springer evo for it...nice bike..but i like my car better..lol

and very nice car.....wish i had a garage full of stangs!! hehe..me and my dad work on alot of classics..just about every year and model..run them in are local cool desart nights..while helping him..he was tring to sell the car i own now..he offerd me that price..and i took it right away..lol..we are working on a 1962 caddy hearse right now {which will be up for sale on ebay soon} its all black..in allmost like new condish,,,and a 1960 caddy coupe that needs just about everything done too it..lol...and sold a old 1950's ford coupe flat head v8 this year...we move threw alot of old rides..but i wouldnt mind picking up a few more stangs before they go threw the roof

You've got your thinking cap on. I have 3 Mach ones and actually I like to drive them the most. At 6'2" and a bulge(small)I fit better into these. The E-clone I moved the seat back about 4" and down 1". This helped a lot. Of the three, I paid 1400 for the 72 (a rust free all original barn find), 400 for the 73 (good solid car and is all there, but needs restored), and 1600 for the J-code (came from up north, rough, but very restorable), any idea on cowl vents? I have'nt seen these repoed yet.It is somewhat under restoration now but will be another year or two before the body gets on the rotisserie. At the time I bought it there were fewrepo parts available (hood, grill, etc.)I have had the 429CJ rebuilt and have been buying parts for the carfor the last 4 years now. Almostthere. As I do most all my own work, It usually only cost me a couple of thousandto complete the restoration once I start.I seen a couplego thru Barrett-Jackson this year and was surprisedat what they brought. Strong money as compared to the previous years. If it was'nt for the embargo and the feds, just think what we might have seen powering these cars, and the potential they would have had.

I retired as a NR EMT Paramedic. 22 years on the road.Had my own company then sold it. At least now I can sleep at night.Currently I own a small garden center and build houses on the side.I have worked every day since Christmas and probably will work the next 120 days straight before I take a weekend off. It gets old. Good thing is, I can usually take most of the summer and fall off and enjoy the cars, that isif I don'tstart a building project. This is when I have time work on them. Don't drink, don't smoke, don't use drugs, so I guess my only addiction is the Mustang hobby.TheSupercharged 5.4 I built myself. Mostly for the cost of the parts and machine shop(balancing, hot tank). The front pully bracket I fabed out of scrap steel. The console is made out of a old refrigerator door. The speaker enclosure is a road sign (these work great). Some plate steel they use to patch railroad cars makes up my chassis re-enforcement. Helps keep my restoration cost down.

well..i dont know about the cowl vents....but i know one of the best west coast mustang restore guys around...has a big nice shop,,allways working on beautifull stangs...he told me to stay away from the reproduction hoods if you can...he said there junk.. a few he has orderd he could roll the metal with his hand..lol..said they were flimsy..and they brag there stronger than original...he said thats a lie...he wont touch them again i guess..lol....thats good info to know i thought..lol

i know what ya mean about room...im 6'4"..and this is proubly the only stang i can drive comfy with out my head rubbin in the liner..lol..if i was any taller or bigger...i would of been pissed..cause i allways wanted a mach or atleast a fastback

5.4 dohc..power house motor...im suprized ford hasnt brung the cleveland back out...talk about a motor thatwas way under its potental.....4v heads are able to handle over 600 horses stock...219 and above valves...imagine all aluminum superchanrged 4v 351 c,,lol...or boss 429 aluminum....motor would proubly be too hot for the street..i thought about making mine really bad like that..but these cj's are becoming hardto come by so i need to baby the motor a bit...lol..even know i got a 530 dollar ticket last year for burning 80 foot of rubber..lol..cop rolled in and caught me showing off..lol..i had to defur the ticket..isnt on my record..but i had to pay the ticket in full..lol

i always heard the cleve's didnt last as long as the W motors, and the exhaust ports really sucked. but they had it right with the canted valves and the intake runners

alot of the clevelands problems were myths..like the myth they have weak bottom ends....i seen cleveland web sites were a guy builds them to about 700 horse...said he never blew out a bottom end..blew rods threw the side before..but he said even the 2 bolt mains cranks would still be in specs after a hard run life.....the exhuast can be easily fixed with a set of headers....cause of emissions..they put a tiny little exhaust pipe on it..lol..put a nice set of headers on there and your in buisness

the windsermotor is a good motor...not too bad on parts...cheaper..but not by much.
i heard alot of people say cleveland parts are spendy...not really that bad...forged pistons are about the same price..same with rods and mainifold....but we all know..even 302 parts are not cheap compared to the 350 chev..lol...i dont think any ford motor is really cheap to spunk up..lol

canted valve 4v heads are great...not so great for the street...the windser and the 2v cleveland is a little better for the street... the average hot 351 w will have great low end responce cause of its small ports....a 4v cleveland likes to be launched at 2,500 and above rpms...lol...so for around town..the windser is a better motor...but for racing i give it too the v4 cleveland....newer design...thin walled casting...4 bolt mains...huge heads
