Default FI or Carb

I'm in the planning stage of a 65 Fastback restomod. I have been looking at a lot of info on engines over the lasst couple of months. Today I read an article about a built 351 winsor with a fuel injected setup making near 500 HP. The interesting thing was at the end af the article they made a comment that a carb on this engine would have made more HP. They said around 520. Whats the deal? I am thinking about building a 331 roller engine. Any suggestions? I personally like the higher reving engines.

fuel injection will be fine with that its just that efi can only handle so much power

You can extract more hp from a carb. Easy enough. But, if you want to make more power day to day, FI is much easier. To keep that power level in a carb, you'll need to be a very good tuner and spend a little time every day tweeking that setup. Good for weekend cars, but a PITA for daily drivers.

for FI i really like the holley setups, they are like a throttle body setup basically which lets you use a kick *** carb style intake and they are self contained which means your not dealing with stock harnesses and ecu's

efi (usually) will give u a little better response than a carb. however, (least to me) carbs are so much easier to work with and allows for more power. also like 77 said, dont have to deal with ecu's and changing out harnesses.

I like the 347s I work for this engine builder I'm not sure of the prices of the upgrades but EFI and AFR heads are avaible. Along with blowers if thats not enough power for you. I perfer carbs on clasics because of the simplisty. Heres the website if interested http://tandlengines.com/

I say the carb too, just for the simplicity of them and I think they are a lot easier to maintain all around.

i like carbs too, but if i was gonna go EFI i wouldnt use a stock ford setup (or a modified ford setup), i would grab something completely aftermarket from edelbrock or holley
