ARB Bolt Usage
i guess you cant technically guage the difference if you didn't blow it up w/o them, right? yes, use the wave-loc rod bolts and the one's that hold on the head. i can't quite remember their name right now[:@]
edit* it's arp fasteners, not arb

When replacing the rod bolts, the rods will need resized. The bolts will distort the rod cap differently, so they must be machined with the new bolts in place.
I almost always use new rod bolts, 100% of the time if it will be abused or raced at all. For the race engines I have done lately, I have splurged and installed head and main studs as well. Studs arent needed for a mild street engine, they would be overkill. I have used stock head and main bolts in some of my bracket race engines and they have lived. I guess if i am spending more than $3000 on the engine, it gets ARPs all the way through it, less than that and its a driver and will usually just get rod bolts.
Did you know you can snap a stock 302 rod bolt by over torquing it? My dad did that to my brothers 68.. It has ARPs in it now too, and it is just a mild near stock 2V..
