la carra steering wheel
I'm putting on a la carra steering wheel a 65 Mustang butI have a couple of problems.First , when I put the wheel on the sterring post and tighten it down and turn the wheel I get sparks coming out fromthe adapter when it two horn contactson the copper ring that comes with the wheel. Second, there are two wires that are supposed to connect to the horn button (which I haven't recieved yet).Has anyone hooked one of these up yet? Any suggesstions will be appreciated.
First suggestion. Well, more of a question. Did you disconnect the battery before you started or are the sparks from somewhere else?
Also,
I think something is missing here.
The sparks come out from the adapter when it what? As you spin the wheel around or just when the wheel is on?
As for the horn button, It's quite simple. If you touch both wires together, it should blow your horn. The horn button is like a door bell (you can get screw on onesat Pep Boys for >5$). I had to install one on my Buick when the little flapper plastic pieces broke off both sides. You shouldhave two connections on the button. One to the button itself and one to the base. Once you press the button, you complete the circut, allowing the current to flow and power your horn. Presto, you can now tell people to get outta your way!

Are you actually suggesting that he put a 5$ pepboys horn button on a 400$ le carra steering wheel? If all you are missing is the wires you should be able to make them with some spade lugs and wire.
you're wires/contacts are probably to long. they shouldnt touch the backing plate. My older lecarra wheel only has one wire leading to the button, stupid thing, and I hate it! Can't wait till I get my new wheel and sell this one.
Maybe I didn't explain clearly. I did disconnect the battery first. Then I installed the adapter and new wheel. There are 2 roll pins that I installed that comes with the kit for the signal cancel. Then I tightened the wheel down and connected the battery. Then when I turned the wheel sparks came out between the adapter and the steering column. I haven't recieved the horn button as yet, so I haven't hooked that up, maybe tomorrow. Thanks.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Yeah right. I was mentioning that I got one for >5 bux at pep boys when I had to replace the one in my buick. I know someone who lost the horn button on their grant and replaced it with a 5 dollar button style one from Advance. Funniest looking **** I've ever seen!
On my 83 s-10 Blazer I had one on each side of the steering wheel. It was cool, It was like playing a video game or something. I'd drive down the street and pretend that it was a Bond car and it was shooting missiles at the cars that were too slow or cut me off. All untill I beeped at a cop and he arrested meon fantasy driving charges. [
