im lazy the time youll spend making or having parts made adds up fast. id find a wrecked fox body mustang cheap take the engine and trans do a tune up on the engine and if its a aod have it rebuilt
I got my old 68 Charger for cheap, out of good grace of the seller cuz she wanted that car to be restored in the right kind of ppls hands.... the first day at my house the charger got traded for my stang. I feel bad but **** happens, and her cars still getting the right treatment she wanted.
But yeah ask ur buddy if he understands the moral of mustang=ford motor. He should understand your predicament

A SBC into an early Mustang is do-able, as is most any swap if you throw enough time, talent, and $ at it (or if you don't care how it looks when you're "finished"). And it would probably be preferable to do it than let the Mustang go to the crusher, if that was absolutely the only alternative. But it would be far from a newbie project, and as you've already found out will attract more than your fair share of flak. As with most cross-marque swaps, there's simply way too much custom fabrication involved to have ideas such as this do anything more than just cross your mind at this point.
Look around for an 80's erathrottle-body 5.0 and itsAOD tranny- the engine can be backfitted to use a smallish 4-V carb and a points distributor without even having to buy any manifoldingif you need to stay low-buck. It pretty much drops right in. BTD all of T, actually, but unfortunately I no longer remember if any driveshaft work was required. A balancer conversion may be necessary if you're keeping the V-belt drive instead of the serpentine though.

There's your answer.
A) While not impossible, it would be very difficult to place the 350 in your Mustang, and
B) Let your buddy know that the motor wouldn't really work in your car and ask if you could sell it so you can buy a motor that will. Saying, awesome, I'd love to have that motor and then turning around and selling it, is not cool.

I would just ask him if you could sell it and get a ford motor, if he was that willing to help you out by giving you the 350 and the drivetrain then he shouldn't have a problem with it. Good luck though.
ok one last question if i go to a junk yard and they have like a wrecked mustang with a 4.6 will that fit or not i no i got a lot of questions but im new to the whole car customizing and my dad never had a mustang so i realy aprcaite it also if i do go with the chevy the tranny offered is a turbo 350 and i have a auto now not sure what one exactly but yeah will it fit in the tranny hump and one last thing dose anyone know where to buy gears for a 7 and a quater rear end or should i again upgrade if i can get it from a yard(if anyone knows of any in south jersey it would be apricated too)
if ur going from a I6 to a V8 you need new suspension w/ five lugs, and the rear end should be switched out because a V8 will break ur old one in a heartbeat.
if you're going to go to the junkyard, find a 5.0, which is a 302 only later on. Same motor basically, and there won't be trouble with fitment, or anything like that.
stay ford
